{"id":673,"date":"2026-04-23T07:57:05","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T07:57:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/divineaid.or.ug\/?p=673"},"modified":"2026-04-23T17:12:20","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T17:12:20","slug":"transforming-lives-in-northern-uganda-divineaid-and-ryans-well-foundation-celebrate-major-milestone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/divineaid.or.ug\/index.php\/2026\/04\/23\/transforming-lives-in-northern-uganda-divineaid-and-ryans-well-foundation-celebrate-major-milestone\/","title":{"rendered":"DivineAid and Ryan\u2019s Well Foundation Celebrate Major Milestone"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>LIRA, UGANDA (December 2024)<\/strong> \u2013 Divine Agency for Integrated Development (DivineAid) is thrilled to announce the successful completion of a pivotal phase of the <strong>&#8220;Improving Lives Through WASH, Economic Empowerment and Environmental Protection&#8221;<\/strong> initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Implemented in partnership with the <strong>Ryan\u2019s Well Foundation<\/strong>, this project represents a holistic approach to rural development, addressing the interconnected challenges of water scarcity, poverty, and climate change in Northern Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Integrated Impact: Beyond Just Water<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This phase of the project has delivered life-changing results across multiple sectors, ensuring that the benefits of clean water are supported by strong community structures and economic opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our Achievements at a Glance:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Clean Water Access:<\/strong> Construction of <strong>13 new water sources<\/strong>, providing safe, reliable drinking water to thousands of households and reducing the burden of waterborne diseases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Health &amp; Hygiene:<\/strong> Formation of <strong>13 Community Health Clubs<\/strong>. These clubs serve as hubs for hygiene education, ensuring that clean water is handled safely and that sanitation practices improve at the household level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Economic Empowerment:<\/strong> Establishment of <strong>13 Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) groups<\/strong>. By providing a platform for local savings and small-scale credit, these groups empower residents\u2014especially women\u2014to invest in their businesses, pay school fees, and build financial resilience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Climate Action for a Sustainable Future<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with DivineAid\u2019s commitment to environmental sustainability, this initiative took a bold step toward climate adaptation. Through the newly formed <strong>Village Environmental Protection Committees (VEPC)<\/strong>, the project successfully planted <strong>13,000 trees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These trees will play a vital role in restoring local ecosystems, protecting water catchment areas, and providing a buffer against the increasing effects of climate change, such as soil erosion and unpredictable weather patterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Partnership for Progress<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The success of this phase demonstrates what is possible when community-led action meets dedicated international partnership,&#8221; said a DivineAid Program Manager. &#8220;By combining WASH with economic and environmental tools, we aren&#8217;t just solving today&#8217;s problems\u2014we are building a foundation for a self-sufficient tomorrow.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We extend our deepest gratitude to the <strong>Ryan\u2019s Well Foundation<\/strong> and the local government stakeholders whose collaboration made these results possible.
