The Need is GREAT!

According to a report by UWASNET, presented on April 7, 2016 (World Health Day) there is still a great need for WASH development activities in Uganda.

Hand Washing With Soap

• 33.2% of population have access to handwashing facilities at the toilet
• ≥ 50% of population wash their hands with soap after toilet use
• 38% of schools have hand washing facilities

Access to sanitation facilities

• 77% of rural population with access to improved sanitation
• 48 districts did not meet the national target of 77%
• 1:67 is the pupil: latrine stance ratio
• 2Million Ugandans lack toilets / latrines

Access to safe water

• 73% have access to safe water in urban areas
• 65% have access to safe water in rural areas
• Nearly 11.5Million people in Uganda do not have access to safe water
• 16,350 out of estimated 109,000 rural water point sources are not providing water as expected
